The Bible uses the metaphor of a body to describe the church:
"For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ" (1 Cor. 12:12).
It’s a beautiful illustration of how we are each created to serve different functions, that we need everyone to function in order to be a healthy body, and how all of us as separate parts find purpose and unity under Jesus who is "the head of the body, the church" (Col. 1:18).
At Parksville Fellowship Baptist, we strongly believe that every Christ-follower is called to belong to the local church.
If you’re already a Christian, if you’re already connected in some form of community (through Growth Groups for example), or if you’re already giving finances and time, then you’re already fulfilling some functions of a member.
By taking the 'next step' of membership and making an official commitment to the body, we are better able to provide spiritual care and pastoral support to you, in part, because we will know who you are, but also because the Bible requires that we take care of our church family first (Acts 20:28; Eph. 2:19; Gal. 6:10; Hebrews 13:17).
