Each Wednesday during the Summer of 2010, PFBC is offering three fantastic courses that will help you grow in your faith. Each class builds on the one before it, so although we aren't requiring you be at each class, if you only drop into a couple you'll miss out in a big way!!
Take a look at the list below and we'll see you there!!
---------------
Study of Philemon (Mornings from 10am to 11.30am - July 28 to Sept 1st) The Apostle Paul illustrates forgiveness, grace, restoration, regeneration and revival in this short letter to his friend Philemon concerning the former slave and future church father, Onesimus. This letter becomes a practical guide for our personal sense of revival with God and how we corporately can seek and prepare for community revival. This course is taught by Jerrold Paetkau.
Knowing God as Father in the Old Testament (Evenings from 7pm to 8.30pm - July 14 to Aug. 18) Presented by Paul Hawkes, this class will survey the OT and expand your understanding of God's character.
Prayer in the Believer's Life (Evenings from 7pm to 8.30pm - July 14 to Aug. 25 *no class on Aug.4) Presented by Dan King, this is a college level class he's taught all over western Canada at Bible schools and YWAM bases. It invites the student to grow in understanding what prayer is, and gives a chance to practice what is learned.

Interested in Summer Baptism?
"Have you been baptized?"
It's a question that gets asked from time to time when you are involved in a church community like Parksville Baptist Church, but sometimes we hear the question and don't seriously consider our answer --- we just say "No."
This summer, we'd like to invite you to consider the question just a little bit more before coming up with an answer.
Baptism is an experience that Jesus actually commands those who have already committed their lives to following him to do. It is something that demonstrates two things:
1.) It demonstrates what Jesus has already done for us. In going under the water and then coming out, we are joining in the death and burial of Jesus, and then his resurrection which defeated sin and death. Read some of Romans 6 for more details HERE.
2.) It announces to the world that we are followers of Jesus and want to live in obedience to him. In fact, in Acts 8, you'll find the story of a man who embraces Jesus as his God and Savior and then immediately hits the river to get baptized - read about that story HERE.
To learn more about what the Bible teaches us about Baptism, you might want to listen to Pastor Paul's recent sermon on the topic HERE
So, "Have you been baptized?" ... if you would like to be, just send us a note to let us know and we'll get you more information.
Kidzville: Change Lives This Summer
This past weekend we gave everyone who attended one of our worship gatherings the chance to change the life of some kids this summer!
Our Kidzville Ministry serves the children of our church each and every weekend during the Encounter and Thirsty gatherings. As summer approaches, we want to bless our regular Kidzville team by giving them some time off, which means that YOU have the opportunity to invest one Sunday this summer into helping to shape the spiritual growth of kids!! Whether you want to be a session leader for one week this summer, or a session helper for one week this summer, there are spots open for you!!
How Can I Help?
Simply come by the office during the week (or phone in and ask for Myra or Roberta), or stop by the information kiosk in the foyer during one of the weekend worship gatherings, and we'll help you on your way to getting signed up! After a quick reference check (we want to keep our kids safe!) the Kidzville Leadership will provide you with all the coaching and materials (if any) that you will need!
It's just that easy and it's only one Sunday out of the entire summer!! Wow!!

Making an Impact: Abe Dueck's Story
Abe Dueck and his family moved to Parksville in 1967. Soon after, they joined the Parksville Fellowship Baptist Church family and they've never looked back ... rather, they kept looking ahead.
In this interview, Abe shares stories about a small church willing to look ahead and take steps of obedience with a dream of making an impact for God in their community. He shares how the property that our present church building is located on was purchased in 1982 and why it was expanded again in 1996. Abe also shares valuable lessons that he learned in the past to heal guide us as we move into the future!!
